Pulsed Wire-Arc Printing Grows Meter-Long Single-Crystal Ti-6Al-4V Rods

A Nature paper describes a pulsed wire-arc process that prints single-crystal Ti-6Al-4V a metre tall, with creep resistance about tenfold above grain-size scaling at 600–700 °C. Open questions remain.
