Iodide-doped electrolyte lets acidic tin flow batteries use all four electrons

A chloride–iodide mix makes the Sn⁴⁺/Sn²⁺ step reversible in acid. In a tin–bromine cell it gave 89% energy efficiency and 205 Wh/L on the tin side. Ion crossover is the unresolved problem.
